DeiC DMP
The Online tool DeiC DMP helps researchers write data management plans - plans describing how project data are generated, collected, stored, used and reused, and how others can access the data at a later stage.
Some institutions and funders have a requirement to prepare a data management plan and recommend the use of the DeiC DMP.
Research data management
Data management plans provide an overview of how research data is collected, stored, processed and shared with others. Thus, the data management plan is an important element in the planning of research projects to ensure that they can be carried out in a safe and responsible manner.
Templates
The DeiC DMP can be customized and contains guides and various templates from a number of research institutions and funders, such as EU/Horizon 2020.
FAIR
A data management plan can also help you establish FAIR data management practices in your project. FAIR stands for "Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable" and describes how to make research data searchable, accessible and interoperable for reuse. Applying the FAIR principles in your research project may be a requirement from selected funders.
The DeiC DMP is based on the open source codebase (DMPRoadmap) jointly developed by the Digital Curation Center (DCC) and the University of California Curation Center (UC3).
How is DeiC DMP used?
Drafting: The data management plan is completed by answering a number of questions regarding the future management of your research data.
Private or publicly available plan: It is recommended to publish and share your data management plan, but you can also choose to make it private.
Examples: In the DeiC DMP there are a number of examples of completed data management plans from researchers who have chosen to publish their DMP.
Download: It is possible to download the data management plan in different formats.
