Denmark participates alongside 35 other European countries in the next phase of the joint European network of HPC competence centres.

In the new project phase, Aarhus University, the Alexandra Institute, and the University of Copenhagen are partners in the EuroCC consortium. EuroCC Denmark will continue to be hosted and led by DeiC.

During the previous funding period, EuroCC Denmark has played a key role in strengthening the use of European supercomputing resources among Danish industry, public organizations, and academia. The centre has increased awareness of HPC in Denmark through a range of activities, including workshops, hackathons, and conferences. In parallel, the competence centre has engaged in collaborations with a number of organizations, supporting them in getting started with or further advancing their use of HPC through access to European supercomputers. These collaborations include private companies such as Rambøll, public authorities such as Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), as well as a range of Danish SMEs.

Focus for the coming period

In recent years, the mandate of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has been expanded to include AI Factories and a European network of AI Factories and AI Factory Antennas has been established to support the development and application of artificial intelligence.

As part of this development, EuroCC Denmark will in its third phase place particular focus on preparing Danish companies to engage with EuroHPC AI Factories through workshops, training activities, and hands-on support. At the same time, the centre will continue to provide technology-neutral guidance from initial idea to proof of concept, strengthen collaboration with national and international partners, including EDIHs and the Nordic NCC network, and expand use case collaborations that demonstrate how HPC creates value for industry, public organizations, and research.

In 2025, EuroCC Denmark established a partnership with DigitalLead to further broaden its reach. For DigitalLead, access to technical expertise and European infrastructure has been valuable, and according to CEO Birgit Pia Nøhr, the competence centre is a key driver of innovation and competitiveness in Denmark.

“EuroCC Denmark plays a crucial role in strengthening the Danish economy by turning advanced digital research infrastructure into real business value. By giving companies access to world-class supercomputing and the skills to use it, EuroCC Denmark helps Danish innovations move faster from idea to proof of concept and into the market, driving greener solutions, higher productivity, and global competitiveness for Danish industry. We are therefore very pleased that EuroCC Denmark can continue this important work in the coming years,” says Birgit Pia Nøhr, CEO of DigitalLead.
