For suppliers
Network connectivity and equipment suppliers have several options to deliver to the research network and DeiC.
DeiC serves research and educational institutions in Denmark. DeiC and the institutions purchase IT equipment at several levels and through several agreements.
These include:
- Local procurement at the individual institution.
- National procurement through DeiC.
- Nordic procurement agreements through NORDUnet.
- European procurement agreements through GÉANT.
Equipment and connections to the Research Network
When new equipment is needed for the research network, DeiC will usually put the order out to EU tender. Tenders are issued through DTU.
For network connections, DeiC has established a dynamic purchasing system.
Dynamic procurement system for network connections
Suppliers of WAN connections can be included in DeiC's dynamic purchasing system on an ongoing basis.
DeiC has established a dynamic purchasing system for WAN (Wide Area Network) connections. A dynamic purchasing system is a more flexible alternative to a framework agreement.
In a framework agreement, participants must be selected in advance. In a dynamic purchasing system, suppliers can continuously apply to join the system. Therefore, there is no need to tender a new agreement after four years as with framework agreements.
The tendering of the dynamic purchasing system has two phases. In the first phase, the system is established. In the second phase, mini tenders are held and suppliers can apply for inclusion on an ongoing basis.
DeiC buys three types of WAN connections:
- Black fiber.
- Data transmission capacity.
- Housing.
Companies interested in becoming suppliers do not need to be able to provide all types of services to be considered.
The dynamic procurement system has a duration of 18 years from its establishment in August 2017.
