DeiC Conference 2026

The theme of last year's DeiC Conference was Digital Sovereignty. The theme has only grown in relevance since then, and addressing the challenges it raises continues to require long-term efforts across our sector.

But what can we do here and now? How can we best prepare as a sector for sudden disruptions such as shortages of critical components, rapidly rising licence and energy costs, cyberattacks, and new regulatory requirements from the EU and other authorities?

Under the theme Digital Research Infrastructure in a Turbulent World, this year's DeiC Conference will explore questions such as:

• How do we ensure that research data is handled securely while remaining accessible in a world that is moving towards greater fragmentation and restriction?
• How can we strengthen threat detection, data protection, preparedness, and governance through more proactive and coordinated collaboration, enabling us to stand stronger nationally while contributing to Europe's digital security and sovereignty?
• How can we provide secure and efficient access to Europe's major HPC facilities, and how do the large European initiatives EuroHPC and EOSC complement and reinforce one another?
• How should we prioritise investments in quantum infrastructure at the intersection of rapid technological advancement and a geopolitical landscape in which quantum technologies are of growing strategic importance?
