In 2020, DeiC completed, together with the GO FAIR Foundation, a number of workshops to help researchers structure their data, i.e. metadata, such that computers can automatically find and evaluate relevant research data. Metadata (data about data) can be a very complex business, but very crucial for the usability of data and thus for research. The aim is to design open standards and practices that specifically address the FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).
Data is classified and structured for use in an automated computer-controlled process. It is a matter of adapting scientific data models such that data can be used meaningfully and automatically by others than the researcher him/her self, for example by colleagues, on a supercomputer, and thereby utilize the data potential in completely new ways.
The aim is to develop the M4M content in collaboration with interested research groups, so that it can become a national resource in the implementation of the forthcoming DeiC FAIR Data strategy. In this connection, DeiC will complete a number of events also open to any interested observers. The first event will be this webinar.
