About DeiC

Danish e-infrastructure Consortium (DeiC) is the collaboration with and between the Danish universities. DeIC coordinates the delivery and development of the national digital research infrastructure.

DeiC's purpose is to ensure computing power, data storage and network infrastructure for Danish research and education.

Specifically, this means that DeiC must:

  • Coordinate and evaluate the delivery of the digital research infrastructure.
  • Participate in international political and strategic activities on behalf of the cooperation.
  • Provide advice, public sector services and representation on request.
  • Disseminate knowledge about national and international competence development.

The owners of DeiC are the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Danish universities jointly. DeiC's board of directors consists of members at management level from the eight Danish universities, all of whom have a mandate from their own university.

The day-to-day management is performed by director Gitte Julin Kudsk, who is appointed by the board.

DeiC is a unit under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science established by deed 70 from the 19th of April 2012. DeiC belongs organisationally to the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science and is not an independent legal entity.

DeiC is a virtual organisation, and has offices at Aarhus University, the Technical University of Denmark, the University of Copenhagen and the University of Southern Denmark. All employees are employed at DTU, which also handles human resource management, law and finance functions.

Mandate

The documents below currently constitute DeiC's mandate and form the basis for the practical design of our organisation and services.

In 2022, the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science will work to define the future legal framework for DeiC, as part of the implementation of the "Strategien for Nationalt Samarbejde om Digital Forskningsinfrastruktur" (in Danish) from 2018.
