There are many ways to describe the load on the individual lines in a network. On Forskningsnettet the load is meassured by actively asking the routers about traffic figures for the different lines. 

The traffic is measured on all backbone lines, international connections, and each of the connected institutions. 

All measurements are public available and are updated regularly.
