For the second time, DeiC is allocating funds to ensure more quantum talent in Denmark. This time DeiC’s National Competence Board for Quantum Computing is allocating 6 mio DKK for new educational activities on quantum computing in Denmark.

Bidding organisations or consortiums are encouraged to think broadly and creatively within the field.

"We don’t mind being surprised. Maybe proposals will come in that we would not have imagined ourselves," says Henrik Navntoft Sønderskov, Head of the quantum at DeiC.

At the same time, this award sets increased requirements for applicants to have relevant competencies within both quantum computing and didactics (how we teach and learn best), so that we help ensure that the academic benefit and competency building are optimal.

This award is part of a series of activities that are intended to support Denmark in fully utilizing access to quantum computers and supercomputers (HPC facilities) for the benefit of Danish research and innovation in the quantum area. "We need to put even more pressure on educational activities within quantum technology and competency building within the quantum area. We have a pipeline problem in relation to users of quantum technology, which calls for even more training and education - across academia, industry, and the public sector," says Henrik Navntoft Sønderskov, Head of the quantum at DeiC.

The National Competence Board for Quantum Computing is a collaboration under the auspices of DeiC and a direct implementation of the government's strategy for quantum technology.
