Exciting Presentations in the Security Field
The presentations in the security field this year are chosen based on three main themes: compliance, technology, and practice. Eskil Sørensen and Morten Als Pedersen, responsible for the conference’s security track, explain:
“We have chosen this approach to place the important and practical, daily security work in the strategic context that the education and research sector finds itself in today”.
On a broader level, participants will gain insight into Denmark's new guidelines for international research and innovation collaboration from Nina Schjoldager, Deputy Director of Research Services at Aalborg University. In her presentation, Nina will discuss how the new guidelines aim to support a shift in the mindset traditionally held by the open and collaborative university researchers. This will include an increased focus on the protection of critical research, trade secrets, and research data.
There will also be an update on the implementation of the sector's cyber and information security strategy "Forskning i trygge rammer" from the head of the sector's decentralized cybersecurity unit, Lene Britt Boisen Brems.
In the practical-technical area, there will be presentations from the founders of SIE Europe, Peter Kruse and Paul Vixie. Additionally, DKCERT’s new head, Jacob-Steen Madsen, will provide insights into how the joint use of DKCERT’s services by practitioners at institutions can release resources for the members of the research network while also enhancing security. Finally, Aalborg University’s CISO, Michael Collin, will share his experiences with planning and conducting contingency exercises.
The Face Behind the DeiC Conference
Among the many faces at this year’s DeiC conference, participants will meet Susanne Bodil Hodges, who started as an event coordinator at DeiC in May, thereby taking on the task of leading the DeiC conference team and ensuring the successful execution of DeiC Conference 2024:
“I am very pleased to have become a part of DeiC and to take on the exciting challenge of planning this year’s DeiC conference in collaboration with the conference team and program committee. Evaluations show that participants are happy with the format of the DeiC conference, so my role will not be to change much but to continue the good work and ensure that the conference remains the success it is today. I am very much looking forward to experiencing the great atmosphere at the conference and, not least, meeting all the participants in Kolding this fall”.
